Nowadays Dengue Fever is a common phenomenon in our country. It has spread throughout the whole of Bangladesh in an epidemic form. So, it is not an uncommon disease in our country. This disease used to be called break-bone fever because it sometimes causes severe joint and muscle pain. Dengue Fever is quite a dangerous febrile disease and it can be found in the tropics and Africa. Dengue Fever is transmitted by Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which also transmits diseases as yellow fever.

Dengue Fever is a viral fever. No other fever is so dangerous as dengue fever. But all types of fever are not dengue fever. There are some specific symptoms of dengue fever. If a man is attacked with dengue fever, he feels severe pain in the whole body, dizzy, headache, anorexia, nausea, malaise, red spots at different parts of the body and unnatural stoles are found. If these symptoms are found, immediately we must consult with a doctor and take medicine as per his advice.

There are four different antigenic varieties of dengue viruses and all are transmitted by the daytime biting Aedes Aegyptus Mosquito. They are DEN-1, 2, 3 and 4 serotypes. One is called Dengue Fever and the other is the hemorrhagic fever. It is also a disease of children and has been found in South Asia. Both types of dengue fever are dangerous for men, especially children.

Aedes, a kind of mosquito, is not responsible for this disease if it does not carry the virus of dengue. Aedes and the monkey carry this virus. If Aedes mosquito bites a healthy man, a virus may get into his body or blood. Virus begins to increase in his blood. But for the first few days, one cannot understand it. Finally, he is attacked with dengue fever.

Dengue Fever in Bangladesh

This kind of mosquito is found in Africa. It lays its eggs on standing or stagnant water in the holes of trees after the rain has stopped. This germ spreads all over the world through the sea vessels from Africa. Aedes also lays its eggs on standing water in the abandoned plastic bottles, plastic cans, tin-pots, tires, green coconut plates, polythene bags, etc.

Most of the dengue fevers are cured within a few days and many of them are not so serious. Treatment should be rendered according to the symptoms of Dengue Fever. The patient of Gengue Fever should drink adequate water, take complete rest, drink a lot of liquid food, wash the whole body with wet-cloth and finally should take the tablets of the paracetamol group to decrease the fever. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is more serious and sometimes the patient may die. If the symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever of a patient are found, we should take him to the hospital and consult with a doctor immediately. We have to wash the patient’s body again and again with a wet-cloth to mitigate fever. In extreme cases, it may be bleeding. The patient may be given paracetamol but never should be given an aspirin group.

As there is no vaccine for dengue fever, we have to eradicate the living places of Aedes mosquitoes and protect them to propagate again. We have to remember that everywhere should be neat and clean to protect Aedes mosquitoes and Dengue fever.

If we want to protect dengue fever, we have to destroy Aedes mosquitoes at first. What we should do to get rid of this dengue fever is to protect mosquito bite. All of us should be conscious about the eradication of Aedes mosquitoes and should take necessary steps for that. Besides, the government should highlight it through different media and should take essential measures to protect dengue fever.
